Renowned for their artist's quality watercolour surfaces, the Arches paper mill in France manufactures all of its fine art papers using traditional cylinder moulds. They are revered for their quality, and dedicated to replicating the precision of hand-made papers created by master papermakers in the same mill in 1492. Created with 100% natural fibres, the Arches Collection are ideal papers for fine techniques- from drawing, calligraphy, gouache, printmaking, acrylics and even digital printing.

Made of long 100% cotton fibres, ARCHES® Watercolour paper can absorb a lot of water without warping or causing the colours to bleed.

Exclusive to ARCHES®: it is sized to the core with natural gelatin, which means it can be scratched without tearing or linting. It also preserves the lustre and transparency of the colours whilst preventing paints penetrating into the thickness of the paper.

  • Ideal for watercolour painting, as for all wet techniques such as ink, gouache and acrylic.
  • Conservation: with alkaline reserve, acid-free, no optical brightening agents (permanent per ISO 9706), fungicidal treatment to prevent the appearance of mould.
