Traditional shibori dye techniques originate in Japan, with the name encompassing a variety of resist-dye techniques for textiles. Typically, a light or white natural fibre cloth (like silk, hemp or cotton) is folded, bunched, or twisted, then tied up, and finally dip-died in indigo dye using various methods to achieve unique results.
